SOAR schedules field trips throughout the year to enhance the SOAR experience and provide additional educational, social, and cultural opportunities for our members. Since the program's inception, SOAR members have visited and explored many important sites in the Detroit metropolitan area—some well known, others less so—often with the aid of docents provided by the host institution.
Examples of previous trips are visits to Kar’s Nuts Factory, Federal Weather Station, Ford Rouge Plant, Detroit Yacht Club, Michigan Opera Theatre, Leader Dogs for the Blind, St. John’s Armenian Church, Yankee Air Museum, and a Clinton River Cruise.
Field Trip Registration
Participation in field trips is open to SOAR members and their guests, as space allows. Members should pre-register for a trip and reserve a space before the reservation deadline specified in the field trip description. Field trip descriptions appear on the SOAR website and in the course schedules mailed to members during the year.
